Great Smoky Mountains national park is officially the most visited national park in US with over 11 million visitors last year. The park is located in between Tennessee and North Carolina states. Beside being most visited national park in the country, Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the largest national parks of the country with 522,419 acres area. The park is also one of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Great Smoky Mountains are actually a division of Blue Ridge Mountains which are part of Great Appalachian Mountain Chain. The parks weather is very humid and rainy. In fact, one of the rainiest parts of the US with a very high precipitation of 1500 mm - 2200 mm. Park is 95 percent forested. According to park officers, there are more than 10,000 plant and animal species in the park but, it is estimated there exists more than 50,000 undocumented species too. Among these species, there are more than 200 bird species, more than 50 fish species, about 40 reptile species and so on. The black bear population of the park is estimated 1500-2000. Best activities for visitors hiking, bicycling, fishing and even water tubing. There are several very long hiking trails inside the park.
